DISTANT CONFERENCE DISCUSSES THE ROLE OF MOTHER TONGUE IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Tashkent, April 18 – Distant interuniversity conference on The Role of mother tongue in foreign languages teaching kicked off at Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoiy.

The conference is taking place due to the partnership between the host university, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan and “Foreign languages in Uzbekistan” scientific and methodological e-journal.

During the opening ceremony, the rector of Tashkent University of the Uzbek Language and Literature Shuhrat Sirojiddinov and Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education Majid Karimov addressed their speech to the conference participants.

In the framework of plenary session Professor of UzSWLU Mirabbos Iriskulov, expert from the United States Nancy Ackles, head of TICA representative office in Uzbekistan Kiziltoprak Sulayman, head of English Department of University of the Uzbek Language and Literature Nozliya Normurodova, as well as Fledu.uz editorial office director Gulmira Shukurova presented their papers.

In general, about 30 scientific articles and reports presented for the conference in the form of video and audio. They covered 5 areas:

  • Language interference in teaching foreign language: morphological, lexical and grammatical problems
  • Theoretical and practical aspects of teaching languages, linguodidactics and methodology
  • Cultural and literary knowledge in teaching FL
  • Modern approaches to teaching FL in continuous educational system
  • Teaching translation in conditions of new educational paradigm

Conference materials will be posted for discussions within 10 days on website www.conference.fledu.uz. On April 25 an online round table on Peculiarities of teaching foreign languages Uzbek audience will take place.

The conference will conclude its work on April 28. On this day, the rapporteurs and the most active participants of papers discussion will be awarded certificates and electronic collections of scientific materials.
