A GROUP OF SCHOLARS PROMOTING THE UZBEK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE WAS AWARDED “THE ALISHER NAVOI” MEDAL IN BAKU

The traditional International Conference on  “Alisher Navo’i and the 21st  Century” was held at  Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on February 6 and 7 of the current year.

This International Conference, which has been organized at the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature for the last 8 years, was held in Azerbaijan for the first time this year.

About 100 scientists and public figures from the USA, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Hungary, Tajikistan and other countries participated in the conference, where they discussed the role of Navoi’s literary heritage in world civilization, the translation of the poet’s works into foreign languages, issues of textual studies, and the study of Navo’i’s works in  educational programme.

Another important aspect of this year’s conference was the establishment of Alisher Navo’i Medal, which was awarded during the event by Alisher Navo’i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature , to modern  scientists  promoting the Uzbek language, literature, and culture both in Uzbekistan and all around the world.
In the end it was agreed to hold International Conference on  “Alisher Navo’i and the 21st  Century”  annually in prestigious scientific centers abroad in order to further enhance the international  significance of the conference.

All the conference materials are indexed in the Scopus scientific database.
