Representatives of the ministry of higher and secondary specialized education headed by the first deputy minister Komiljon Karimov received a delegation of professors from the California State University (Fullerton), USA.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the results of cooperation of higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan with the California State University, the current state of cooperation and prospective agenda.
The parties discussed issue related to expanding cooperation with the California State University, in particular, introduction of academic credit system, academic, financial and management autonomy in local universities, online and distance learning.
Particular focus was made on employment of university graduates, accreditation system, integrating science, education and production, exchange of experience in employing graduates.
The head of the delegation, advisor to the president of the California State University, professor Morteza Rahmatian noted that undergraduate programs at universities in California, including physics, mathematics, biology and chemistry, are achieving high results. Then, negotiations were held with the Urgench State University on the prospects of training specialists in the above mentioned disciplines.
For information: A delegation of professors headed by professor M.Rakhmatyan visited the Urgench State University, held meetings with the administration of the university aiming at expanding mutual cooperation. The guests organized field-related master classes involving professors and teachers.
During meetings with the administration of the university, an agreement was reached on implementation in 2021-2023 of the project of the Advanced Study Institute (ASI) of the US National Science Foundation at Urgench State University and the Institute of Mathematics run by professor Zoir Ibragimov from the California State University.
The project envisages special seminars in 5 new areas for PhD researchers from the USA, Uzbekistan and other countries, inviting leading mathematicians from all over the world.
At the same time, it was noted that starting from 2022, the California State University and Urgench State University will jointly launch a portal “Studying algebra in the homeland of algebra”. Based on portal, a summer semester will be jointly organized involving students from both universities for studies getting academic credits in their respective subjects.
