THE CENTRE OF UZBEK LANGUAGE AND CULTURE NAMED AFTER ALISHER NAVOI OPENED AT ULUDAG UNIVERSITY

On February 8, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Centre of Uzbek Language and Culture named after Alisher Navoi was held at Uludag University in the ancient city of Bursa (Türkiye).

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the centre, the rector of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, academician Shukhrat Sirojiddinov, greeted all participants in the ceremony with this historical event and said that the centre was being launched on the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He also noted that the opening of a representative office of the Turkish Yunus Emre Foundation in Uzbekistan would take place soon.

​The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, the rector of the University of Bursa Uludag FerudunYilmaz, the Deputy Minister of National Education of Turkey Jelile Eren O’Kten, the political councillor to the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkey AvazbekKhojimetov, as well as prominent Navoi scholars, Turkologists and young researchers all countries.

​This centre provides the necessary resources to young scientists, historians, ethnographers conducting scientific research on ancient and modern Turkic languages and literature of the Turkic peoples. In addition, the centre will serve as a place for the exchange of experience between teachers and students between the two universities. It is also planned to create conditions for our Turkish brothers and the youth of Turkey to receive extensive information about Uzbekistan, its history, present and future. In a word, we can say that the centre will become a practical manifestation of the idea of unification that Alisher Navoi dreamed of.
