THE PRESIDENT HELD A MEETING ON ISSUES OF ENSURING YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

On February 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on issues of ensuring youth employment.

Youth is a priority in the strong social policy of our state. Constant attention is paid to the quality education of young people and their acquisition of professions, as support for their initiatives.

A “Youth Employment Program” is being implemented in each mahalla, the “Olympiad of Five Initiatives”, the “Caravan of Culture” and various festivals are being held.

On February 21, 2024, the Presidential decree approved the State Program for the implementation of the Strategy “Uzbekistan – 2030” in the Year of Support for Youth and Business. It defines several tasks to solve the problems of youth and realize their potential, to provide employment by teaching in-demand professions.

In particular, this year it is necessary to provide employment for 925 thousand boys and girls. In addition, 300 thousand young people will graduate from colleges, technical schools and higher educational institutions.

The meeting discussed issues of employment, training young people in modern professions and attracting them to entrepreneurship.

It was noted that for this it is necessary to identify capable boys and girls, help them in learning IT specialties and foreign languages, and the khokims (city governors) have been given appropriate instructions.

Through the Ibrat Farzandlari project of the Agency for Youth Affairs, one million children will be taught foreign languages for free. Unused premises in schools will be provided free of charge to tutors of foreign languages and educational centers.

100 private educational centers in rural areas with high student achievement will receive compensation for the cost of renting premises for up to 6 months.

Also, young people studying at private courses and who have received a C1 level certificate will be reimbursed for tuition costs, and for obtaining a B2 level certificate in German, French, Korean, Japanese and Chinese, the costs of obtaining a certificate. Another innovation is that not only the costs of passing the exam for the certificate will be covered, but also the six–month tuition fee.

Within the framework of the Ustoz project, 250 thousand young people will be trained in 30 modern professions such as marketing, advertising, e-commerce, and IT design.

Also, the meeting heard reports from responsible persons on the issues discussed.
