The Times has published a new guidebook to Uzbekistan.
This once-vital network of trading routes continues to offer one of the greatest travel experiences in the world — laden with history, stories and intrigue.
And if one country defines the Silk Road more than any other, it is Uzbekistan. Its crossroads city of Samarkand, home to the spectacular Registan Square, is one of the best-known stops on the Silk Road, while also being one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia.
