A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION SIGNED WITH UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE MAR DEL PLATA

April 22, 2025

As part of preparations for the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference—which has traditionally been held in France since 1985 and is now planned to be held for the first time in the city of Samarkand—a delegation from Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU), currently visiting Argentina, paid an official visit to Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (UNMdP) to strengthen cooperation with leading international universities.

The visit began with a meeting between representatives of the two universities.

During the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation in scientific and educational fields was signed by Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of UzSWLU, and Alfredo Remo Lazzeretti, Rector of UNMdP.

The parties agreed to establish effective cooperation in the following areas:
• Supporting scientific and academic collaboration, and assisting Argentinian students in learning about the culture and language of Central Asia, including Uzbekistan;
• Strengthening ties between the two universities through student and faculty exchange programs;
• Organizing short-term courses and summer schools to provide students with opportunities to learn about the education systems of other countries;
• Conducting joint research between UNMdP and UzSWLU in linguistics, journalism, sustainable development, and other areas to enhance international scientific collaboration;
• Developing academic studies on the similarities and differences between the languages of Central Asia and Latin America.

Additionally, both universities agreed to organize special festivals, exhibitions, and conferences dedicated to the cultures of Argentina and Uzbekistan, aiming to foster dialogue between students and faculty.

It is worth noting that Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU), which has made a significant contribution to the development of linguistics, translation, and international communication, is one of the leading institutions in the field of foreign language education in Uzbekistan.

The development of scientific and academic cooperation between UNMdP and UzSWLU will be mutually beneficial for both sides.
