CENTER FOR UZBEK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE OFFICIALLY OPENED AT AZERBAIJAN UNIVERSITY OF LANGUAGES
February 4, 2026A ceremonial opening of the Center for Uzbek Language and Literature, established at the initiative of Uzbekistan State World Languages University, took place at the Azerbaijan University of Languages.

The event was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University Ilhomjon Tuxtasinov, Head of the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Interparliamentary Relations Working Group and Deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Eldar Ibragimov, as well as heads of higher education institutions, representatives of academic circles, and other official guests.


In his welcoming remarks, Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, Academician Kamal Abdulla, emphasized that the opening of the center is a significant and symbolic event in the university’s life. He noted the important role of language and culture centers in strengthening academic, educational, and cultural ties between states and nations. It was also highlighted that the opening of the Center for Azerbaijani Language and Culture at Uzbekistan State World Languages University last year stands as a vivid and successful example of bilateral cooperation.
Academician Kamal Abdulla подчеркнул глубокое уважение и искренний интерес азербайджанского народа к богатой истории и высокому культурному наследию Узбекистана, expressing confidence that the newly established Center for Uzbek Language and Literature will further increase interest among students and faculty members in Uzbekistan.

In his speech, Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University Ilhomjon Tuxtasinov underlined that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is based on fraternal ties and strong friendship that have connected the two nations for centuries. He noted that the center will elevate scientific, cultural, educational, and political cooperation to a new level, while also expanding opportunities for students and faculty to study the Uzbek language and gain deeper insight into Uzbekistan’s culture.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and high attention, stating his confidence that the Center for Uzbek Language and Literature will play an important role not only in education but also in the development of research activities.
Deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Eldar Ibragimov also emphasized that the center will contribute to further strengthening scientific, cultural, educational, and political cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. It was noted that cooperation between the two universities continues to develop steadily, and this year a group of students from the Azerbaijan University of Languages plans to pursue doctoral studies at Uzbekistan State World Languages University.
