IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CHANGING JOURNALISM? NEW TRENDS DISCUSSED AT UZSWLU
October 22, 2025On October 22, 2025, Uzbekistan State World Languages University hosted an international scientific and practical conference titled “New Trends in Journalism: Artificial Intelligence and Posthumanism.” The event was organized by the Faculty of International Journalism, the Department of Information Service, and Public Relations.


The conference began with the words of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev: “Artificial intelligence technologies have ushered in a new stage of human development. They create great opportunities in the economy, education, medicine, and other spheres. We must use these opportunities wisely to ensure that artificial intelligence serves the interests of society and humanity.” This quote was adopted as the conference’s motto.
The event was opened by the Rector of Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Ilhomjon Tukhtasinov. The scientific session was led by Doctor of Philology, Professor Klimentina Ismailova, and Doctor of Philology, Professor Amrullo Karimov.


Participants discussed the role of artificial intelligence in journalism, ethical norms in the posthumanist era, international experiences, and the adaptation of Uzbek journalism to modern demands.
Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Beruniy Alimov, delivered a presentation titled “The Age of Artificial Intelligence in Journalism: Models and Algorithmic Flexibility.” Associate Professor of the South Kazakhstan Research University Yarmuhammad Madaliyev spoke about “Specific Aspects of Using AI in Uzbek Language Education.” Associate Professor of RUDN University (Russia) Natalia Poplavskaya gave an online presentation titled “RUDN Experience: Developing Digital Competencies — From Theory to Practice.”
Chief Editor of a Turkish media outlet, Joşkun Tag, also shared his country’s experience in integrating AI technologies into journalism and ensuring information reliability.
PhD in Philology Malika Akhmedova delivered an analytical report titled “The Role of the Media in Preventing Terrorism and Extremism in the Digital Era.” Senior Lecturer of the Department of Information Service and Public Relations A’zamjon Dadaxonov spoke on “The Phenomenon of Post-Journalism: Key Features and Development Trends.”


Students took an active part in the discussions as well. Humoyun Khoshimjonov, a student of the Faculty of International Journalism, gave a presentation titled “Artificial Intelligence — A Rival or an Assistant to Journalists?” offering a youth perspective on the issue.
Participants emphasized that AI technologies are fundamentally transforming journalism, bringing not only new opportunities but also new responsibilities.
In conclusion, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of UzSWLU, Otabek Yusupov, highlighted the importance of the event in enhancing the adaptability of Uzbek journalism to the digital age. Active participants were awarded certificates of appreciation on behalf of the university.
