SHAVKAT MIRZIYOYEV CONGRATULATES THE PEOPLE OF UZBEKISTAN ON THE UZBEK LANGUAGE DAY
October 21, 2025Today, Uzbekistan celebrates the Uzbek Language Day nationwide. In his congratulatory message, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the large-scale reforms carried out in recent years to promote and strengthen the status of the state language.

He emphasized that significant steps have been taken to make Uzbek a language of modern science, information technology, and international communication. The President noted that the activities of the Terminology Commission have been enhanced, and new AI-based software tools have been developed to support this goal.
The President also outlined key achievements in expanding the use of the Uzbek language. Nearly 250,000 geographical objects have been renamed in accordance with state language standards, and thousands of dictionaries, encyclopedias, and manuals have been published and distributed to educational institutions. Notably, the Explanatory Dictionary of the Uzbek Language, the Alisher Navoi Encyclopedia, and the Dictionary of Navoi’s Language have been delivered to foreign university libraries. In addition, a 50% salary bonus has been introduced for certified Uzbek language teachers, and knowledge of the language is now a formal requirement for obtaining citizenship.
President Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of consistently implementing the 2020–2030 Concept for the Development of the Uzbek Language and Language Policy. Among key priorities are increasing the amount of Uzbek-language scientific and popular content in the digital space, promoting the state language on global online platforms, and improving online dictionaries. He also emphasized that fostering love for the native language among youth, promoting linguistic culture, and creating national brands in Uzbek are shared responsibilities of all citizens.
