As is known, during the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed the initiative to hold the “Days of Turkic Science and Innovation” during Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the Union of Turkic Universities (TÜRKÜNİB) in 2025–2026.

Today, this initiative is being realized in practice: the 8th General Assembly of TÜRKÜNİB has begun its work at Tashkent International University.

The event was opened by Hilola Umarova, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Education Reform, Kungratbay Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, and Iskandar Yuldoshev, Rector of Tashkent International University.

The assembly is attended by representatives of about 70 universities from member countries of the organization, including around 200 rectors and scholars.

Within the framework of the event, the “Days of Turkic Science and Innovation” initiative is being discussed, and an exhibition of Uzbek universities has been organized. In addition, the Turkic Academy presented the results of its scientific project “TurkBarometer” for 2024–2025.

The 8th General Assembly of the Union of Turkic Universities, held under the motto “There is no salvation except through science,” marked a new stage of scientific cooperation, academic solidarity, and cultural integration among Turkic countries.

During the assembly’s breakout sessions, more than 20 cooperation agreements were signed.
