THE CLASSIFIER OF HIGHER EDUCATION FIELDS AND SPECIALTIES APPROVED IN A NEW EDITION
March 3, 2026Amid the rapid transformation of the global economy, the deepening of digital transformation processes, and intensifying global competition, the higher education system is evolving from a simple workforce training sector into a strategic driver of national development. In this regard, the approval of the new edition of the document “State Educational Standard of Higher Education. Classifier of Higher Education Fields and Specialties” by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations is of particular importance.
The updated classifier is directly linked to the real needs of the country’s economic sectors, employer demands, and global trends in science and technological development. Today’s labor market requires a new generation of professionals — digitally literate, adaptable, capable of interdisciplinary thinking, and committed to continuous professional growth.

The new edition includes 13 new bachelor’s degree fields and 15 new master’s specialties. These cover the fastest-growing sectors of the economy, including:

– engineering and high-tech manufacturing;
– modern economics and innovative management;
– healthcare and medical technologies;

The new academic fields were developed based on proposals from the real sector and employers, ensuring strong alignment between higher education, industry, business, and the social sphere. The updated State Educational Standard focuses on introducing a competency-based training model, strengthening practical components of education, expanding the implementation of digital learning platforms, and promoting academic mobility.
