THE FIRST UZBEKISTAN–JAPAN UNIVERSITY TO BE ESTABLISHED
December 21, 2025Negotiations were held in Tokyo between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi.

Special attention is being paid to intensifying humanitarian exchanges. Education and human resource development traditionally constitute an important component of these multifaceted relations.
The Uzbekistan–Japan Center for Human Resource Development is successfully operating in Uzbekistan, providing young people with broad opportunities to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for implementing entrepreneurial projects in the future.
Issues related to the further expansion of Uzbekistan–Japan strategic partnership relations, covering virtually all areas of interstate cooperation, were comprehensively discussed.
Japanese language is taught at seven higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. The Uzbek language has been studied for ten years at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
The Rectors’ Forum serves as an important platform for exchanging experience in the field of human resource training. Today, a meeting was held with rectors of leading Japanese higher education institutions, resulting in important agreements on expanding cooperation programs as well as scientific and innovative exchanges.
Together with the University of Tsukuba, it is planned to establish the first Uzbekistan–Japan University in the city of Tashkent.
At the conclusion of the talks, the President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Japan signed a Joint Statement on an Expanded Strategic Partnership for Future Generations.
