THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN PARTICIPATED IN THE 46TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ASIAN OLYMPIC COUNCIL

On January 26, the 46th General Assembly of the Asian Olympic Council was held in Tashkent, attended by leaders and representatives of international and regional sports organizations.

In his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that despite growing global conflicts, sport continues to play a vital role in strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among nations. He congratulated Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al-Sani on his election as President of the Asian Olympic Council and highlighted his significant contribution to the development of sports.

The discussion also covered Uzbekistan’s broad sports reforms, modern infrastructure, the “President’s Olympics” system, and the Olympic Village. The successes of Uzbek athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games were noted, as well as the fact that more than 15 million citizens regularly engage in physical activity.

More than 20 cooperation agreements have been signed with international sports organizations, including the establishment of new sports facilities and academies in weightlifting, wrestling, volleyball, and field hockey. Anti-doping forums and Central Asia regional meetings are also being held in Tashkent.

At the conclusion of the assembly, Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al-Sani was awarded the “Shon-Sharaf” Order of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan for his contribution to the development of the Olympic movement and promotion of significant sports initiatives.
