THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN, SHAVKAT MIRZIYOYEV, IS ON A WORKING VISIT TO ALMATY, KAZAKHSTAN
March 29, 2025The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has arrived in Almaty on a working visit.
He was met at the airport by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In honor of the arrival of Uzbekistan’s leader, a guard of honor was lined up, and the national flags were raised.


During the visit, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held an informal meeting in the city of Almaty.
With the participation of delegations from both countries, they conducted a detailed discussion on the consistent strengthening of Uzbek-Kazakh relations of good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance.
At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state sincerely congratulated each other and the brotherly peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on the spring holiday of Navruz and the upcoming Ramadan Eid.
They expressed great satisfaction with the current highest level of multifaceted Uzbek-Kazakh cooperation. Active contacts are maintained at all levels. Trade turnover has increased by 14 percent since the beginning of the year, an investment project portfolio worth over $4 billion has been formed, and close interregional ties and cultural and humanitarian exchanges continue to develop.


The heads of state listened to reports from the Deputy Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on the measures being taken to expand mutual trade and advance cooperation projects among leading enterprises in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, oil and gas, textiles, agriculture, and other priority sectors.
The presidents issued specific instructions for developing a long-term industrial cooperation program and accelerating the implementation of regional infrastructure projects.
They emphasized the importance of launching practical work on the International Industrial Cooperation Center this year and expanding the activities of the joint foreign trade company.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the regional agenda, including preparations for the Central Asian summits scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan in the coming months.
Additionally, they reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
The meeting took place in a traditionally friendly and businesslike atmosphere.
