The work “Zij-i Ulugh Beg” (“Zij-i Jadid-i Kuragoni”) has been published for the first time in Uzbek, Russian, English, and Chinese languages. The publication was prepared by scholars from the Abu Rayhon Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

This historical book is the work of the great 15th-century astronomer Mirzo Ulugbek (1394–1449), the grandson of Amir Temur and ruler of the Mavarannahr region, created in collaboration with a group of scholars.

The work consists of four parts:

  • The first part focuses on chronology, calendars, and the systems of timekeeping used by various peoples.
  • The second part covers spherical astronomy and mathematical geography, including mathematical and geographical tables.
  • The third part is devoted to planetary motion and stellar astronomy, featuring a catalog of 1,014 stars.
  • The fourth part addresses astrology and the interpretations of celestial phenomena by astrologers.
