For the first time, the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held on the territory of an observer state — in Budapest, the capital of Hungary — with the participation of the leaders of Turkic countries.

The summit was attended by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the leaders of Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan. The leaders of Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus participated as observers, while Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán joined as the host.
One of the most significant outcomes of the summit was the approval of the “Unified Turkic Alphabet”, which consists of 34 letters.
As a result of this historic decision, Turkic peoples will not only share a common script but also move closer in areas such as education, media, and the internet, while also strengthening cultural and linguistic ties.
At the conclusion of the summit, the Budapest Declaration was adopted, outlining the organization’s common path, objectives, and strategic goals.
