UZBEKISTAN–JAPAN RECTORS’ FORUM: A NEW APPROACH TO SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT

As is known, the Fifth Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan and Japan is being held in Samarkand on October 30–31 under the theme “Harmony between Knowledge and Society: Interdisciplinary Approaches for Human Development and Innovation.”

The forum continued its work with a plenary session. The session featured speeches by First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Sardor Radjabov, Executive Director of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation Gulnoza Ismailova, as well as rectors, professors, and distinguished experts from several universities of Japan and Uzbekistan.

The speakers noted that cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education is entering a new stage, with joint programs, scientific research, and student exchanges contributing to the development of human potential. The moderator of the forum, Rector of Bukhara State University Dr. Obidjon Hamidov, congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of the forum for experience sharing and identifying new directions for collaboration.

The discussions focused on the role of education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the social responsibility of science in society, the integration of science and industry, and the creation of new opportunities through innovation synergy. In addition, issues related to investing in human capital and supporting young people in acquiring international experience and advanced knowledge were addressed.
