Babur – a “Tiger”

His full name is Zahiriddin Mohammed Babur. The nickname Babur, which means “tiger” or “lion”, was received for bravery in battles. He was a talented military commander, possessed military prowess and wit.

The extraordinary poetic talent of Babur’s lyrical works is almost never read by modern youth, which is completely in vain. His lyrics are a song of human beauty and love. In his works, he praises a real, honest, devoted personality. Exalts a just and worthy person.

He describes his feelings so subtly and so elegantly that reading into his love lines, an understanding of the incredibly deep and sensual nature of this genius develops.

Founder of the Mughal Empire 

The Mughal Empire was formed by Babur when the entire ruling class led by him penetrated into India. The empire existed for quite a long time from the middle of the XVI century to the middle of the XVIII century and operated on the territory of modern India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and southeastern Afghanistan.It is noteworthy that neither Babur nor the descendants of the Empire called themselves that. This name was given by the English colonialists. They thus referred to the Muslim population in Northern India and Central Asia.

The Taj Mahal

The famous symbol of India, the Taj Mahal mosque-mausoleum, was built by Babur’s great–grandson Shah Jahan in the XVII century. Few people know that this grandiose monument was built by a descendant of the Baburid dynasty, who immortalized his name thanks to the construction of such a structure. 

The priceless literary heritage “Babur-name”

“Babur-name”– is Babur’s historical work. The work is rightfully called “the best work of Turkic prose”. This book is not an easy summary of historical chronicles. The work is devoted to the description of Babur’s activities, his successful and unsuccessful military campaigns, and the presentation of all the vicissitudes of his rich adventure life. To date, “Babur-name” has been translated into 31 languages of the world.

Corresponded with Alisher Navoi

Babur exchanged letters and poems with many famous poets and writers of his time. One day, he sent his poems to the great Alisher Navoi and received approving comments on his work. Later, in Baburname, Babur wrote about Alisher Navoi as an incomparable man, called him the patron of people of science and art. 

Gulbadan-Begim is Babur’s daughter 

Gulbadan-Begim is Babur’s youngest daughter and the only female historian in the Muslim East. The work “Humayun-name” contains important material on the history of his time, as well as memories of his famous father.

Andijan Monument and Park in Tashkent 

Babur was born and grew up in Andijan, so there is a lot connected with his name. There is a square named after Babur, on which a monument of red granite on a high pedestal is installed. In addition, the Babur Library and the National Park can be visited in the city.

There is a “Babur Park of Culture and Recreation” in Tashkent. In the “green” park you can ride rides, play table tennis, sit in a cafe, go boating and just admire the butterfly-shaped lake.
