CONGRATULATIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF UZBEKISTAN ON THE OCCASION OF THE UZBEK LANGUAGE DAY

October 21, 2024

Dear compatriots!

I sincerely congratulate you and in your person all our people, all who sincerely love our native language, on today’s wonderful day – the Celebration of the Uzbek Language Day and the 35th anniversary of giving it the status of the state language.

As you know, the national language is an invaluable, huge wealth reflecting the history of the people, their identity, spiritual world and culture.

The native language, which united us into a single people in the most difficult, full of trials periods of our ancient history, through the centuries carried our undying ancestral values, is truly worthy of love and respect.

Today, a lot of work is being done in our country to develop the state language, increase its status and role, and popularize it widely in the world.

In recent years, the documentation of many departments has been translated into the state language, the names of more than 100 thousand geographical objects have been included in the state register, in the regions more than 150 thousand units of external advertising and information have been brought into compliance with the requirements of legislation in this area.

The activities of the Commission on Terms have been radically improved, and scientific criteria in this area have been developed to systematically introduce new modern concepts and various terms into official circulation.

Since last year, a system of linguistic expertise has been introduced to verify draft normative legal acts, which serves as a thorough preparation of relevant documents following the requirements and methodology of the state language.

Dear friends!

We still have much to do to make full use of the possibilities of the Uzbek language, to increase its status and attractiveness on the world stage.

The state language, as it happens in highly developed democratic countries, should first serve to unite society, and all citizens into a single people, regardless of their language and nationality. We are all deeply aware that in such a delicate and sensitive language issue for any nation, it is necessary to act with foresight and restraint, not giving in to excessive emotions.

Dear compatriots!

I once again congratulate you on today’s wonderful holiday, I wish you all good health and success, peace and prosperity to your families.

May the wealth, beauty and power of our Uzbek language increase!

Shavkat Mirziyoyev,
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
