THE HEAD OF STATE PARTICIPATES IN THE 59TH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK
May 4, 2026At present, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is delivering a speech at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank taking place in Samarkand.


In his address, the Head of State noted that Uzbekistan’s economy has entered a new stage of development. In recent years, $150 billion in investments have been attracted, the size of the economy has reached $147 billion, exports have tripled, and the poverty rate has decreased to 5.8 percent.
The President emphasized that by 2030, the goal is to increase the economy to over $240 billion, join the ranks of upper-middle-income countries, and completely eliminate poverty. It is also planned to offer 30 percent of the shares of the “National Investment Fund” on the international stock market.


Special attention in the speech was given to the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, increasing the share of green energy to 54 percent, creating new transport corridors, and improving the logistics system. In addition, initiatives were put forward to address environmental challenges, including the “Yashil Makon” project and the “Central Asia Green Belt.”
The President highly praised cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and other international financial institutions, noting that a new $12 billion cooperation program has recently been signed.
