Within the framework of the Uzbek-Chinese educational forum, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation K. Karimov met with Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of China Chjan Yuydun.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the work done to date in the field of science and technology, and exchanged views on the development of cooperation. As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached a number of agreements.
In particular, it was decided to hold the next round of a competition for joint scientific projects between scientists from Uzbekistan and China. The parties provide for funding of research in the field of biotechnology, genetics, medicine, alternative energy, materials science and geology. It was noted that to date, 20 joint projects worth 27.4 billion soums have been financed. Currently, the process of financing 20 projects worth 18 billion soums is ongoing.
The issue of organizing internship programs for young Uzbek scientists in advanced scientific institutions in China was also discussed, and views were exchanged on expanding work in this area. The parties expressed their readiness to maintain direct connections between technology parks and innovation centers of the two countries.
