A NEW CHAPTER IN UZBEKISTAN–U.S. COOPERATION

October 20, 2026

Samarkand is becoming a hub not only for historic meetings but also for new economic opportunities!

On October 19, the second meeting of the Uzbekistan–U.S. Business and Investment Council was held with the participation of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The event was also attended by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Special Envoy Sergio Gor, and representatives of leading American companies and banks.

Key outcomes and priority areas:

– Nearly $12 billion – a package of 54 agreements and prospective initiatives with a total value of approximately $12 billion was assembled.

– Artificial intelligence and digital technologies – modern solutions are set to be introduced in industry, agriculture, education, and public administration.

– Energy and critical minerals – developing a modern energy system, deep processing of raw materials, and manufacturing high-tech products were identified as promising areas for cooperation.

– New investment opportunities – under the “Plug and Play” approach, investors are to be offered ready-to-implement projects with infrastructure and necessary permitting arrangements in place.

– A vision for 2035 — the development of a long-term programme to advance trade, investment, and technological cooperation between the two countries was proposed.

The goal is not limited to attracting investment. It is also to drive economic growth by creating new businesses and jobs, introducing advanced technologies, and exchanging knowledge and expertise.

That is what makes the meeting in Samarkand particularly meaningful: a city that has historically connected trade routes is now hosting efforts to build new bridges of economic cooperation.
