August 13, 2026

On August 10, Tashkent hosted the Grand Opening Ceremony of the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026).

This year’s Olympiad set a historic record, bringing together 386 contestants from more than 97 countries, with total attendance exceeding 900 participants.

Hosting IOI in Uzbekistan — the homeland of the great scholar Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, whose contributions laid the foundations for algebra and the concept of algorithms — carries special historical and symbolic significance.

As the host nation, Uzbekistan is represented by two national teams comprising 8 top finalists selected through the national selection process.

IOI 2026 is not only a prestigious international platform for young talents, but also an important event showcasing Uzbekistan’s achievements in digital transformation, IT development, and support for talented youth.
