NEW EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX ESTABLISHED IN KHIVA IN COOPERATION WITH CHINA
August 17, 2026President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the activities of the Uzbekistan branch of Liaoning Normal University and the Confucius Institute established in Khiva.


As part of efforts to develop higher education in line with international standards and expand cooperation with foreign universities, a new educational complex has been built. A total of 140 billion soums was allocated from the state budget for its construction and equipment, creating 120 new jobs.


The complex includes modern classrooms, a library, sports hall, cultural center, cafeteria, and student dormitory. The admission quota for 2026 is set at 160 students. In the future, annual enrollment is planned to increase to 500 students, with the total number of students reaching 2,000.
Education is offered in full-time and distance-learning formats in Uzbek, Chinese, and English. Bachelor’s programs include International Chinese Language Education, Tourism Management, International Business, and Artificial Intelligence. Master’s programs include Methods of Teaching Chinese Language and Culture, Education Management, and Artificial Intelligence and Educational Technologies.


The branch’s diploma is directly recognized in Uzbekistan, while talented graduates will have opportunities to continue their studies in China on grants and undertake internships.
In Khorezm region, 38 major projects involving Chinese investors, with a total value of $2.343 billion, are currently being implemented. The new educational institution will help train specialists with strong knowledge of modern technologies and the Chinese language. The President emphasized the importance of aligning educational programs with the needs of the economy and labor market.
