REPUBLIC-WIDE “MAHALLA MASTER PLAN” COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS ANNOUNCED!

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, the World Bank, and the European Union, has announced the Republic-Wide “Mahalla Master Plan” Competition.

The competition aims to contribute to regional development by designing the most effective master plan projects for 16 mahallas identified as belonging to the “high-priority” category.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Final-year bachelor’s students majoring in economics or engineering, as well as first- and second-year master’s students from participating higher education institutions, are eligible to apply.
  • Each team must consist of 5 to 7 students and one faculty supervisor, selected through an internal university selection process.

Awards:

  • Five best student teams will be selected as winners and awarded certificates of achievement.
  • Cash prizes will be funded with the support of the World Bank and the European Union.
  • The prize money will be distributed equally among the students and the faculty supervisor of each winning team.

Competition Timeline:

  • By 15 September – Formation of student teams by participating universities;
  • By 30 September – Online master plan workshops with expert participation;
  • By 30 October – Review and discussion of preliminary master plan proposals;
  • By 1 December – Submission of final master plan projects;
  • By 25 December – Final presentations and evaluation of winning projects.
