STUDENTS FROM UZBEKISTAN PARTICIPATE IN SUMMER PROGRAM AT HIGASHIKAWA JAPANESE LANGUAGE SCHOOL
July 14, 2026Students of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University are participating in a summer educational program organized in cooperation with the Higashikawa Japanese Language School, located in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.
In addition to their language classes, the students took part in a cultural event where they learned about the history, different types, cultural significance, and unique features of Japan’s traditional garment, the kimono.

During the practical session, the students had the opportunity to try on a yukata*, allowing them to experience Japanese traditions firsthand and gain a deeper appreciation of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
A yukata is a traditional Japanese garment and a type of lightweight, unlined kimono, typically made of cotton or linen. Trying on a yukata gives participants an authentic opportunity to experience an important aspect of Japanese culture, often during festivals, cultural events, or visits to traditional inns.
Such cultural activities help strengthen students’ understanding of Japan’s rich historical and cultural heritage while also playing an important role in promoting cultural exchange between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Japan.
